This program offers doctoral preparation for counseling and therapy
professionals who seek to advance in the counseling profession or in
leadership positions in academic, clinical, and consultative settings.
Successful graduates of this degree program are prepared to pursue
positions as counselor educators, supervisors, researchers, and
advanced practitioners in academic and clinical settings.
Outcome goals and graduates' proficiency levels
Each doctoral program and specialization is designed around expected learning outcomes (see Expected Program Outcomes below). End of program performance is determined during the comprehensive exam and dissertation process. Because the work is unique to each learner's dissertation or research topic and the criteria for evaluation are aligned to that work, we do not collect data on proficiency levels for doctoral programs.

- Capella University's PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision, MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and MS in School Counseling programs are accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) through March 31, 2028.

education and offers a broad portfolio of counseling-related
specializations.
- All members of Capella's counseling faculty hold doctoral degrees from accredited institutions.
- The 2020-2021 Counselor Education Unit Annual Report is available.
- 39 learners graduated from the Counselor Education and Supervision program between July 1, 2020 and June 30, 2021.
- The current completion rate for learners from the PhD in CES program who enrolled in 2013-2014 and 2014-2015, and graduated within 28 quarters is 26%.1
- Capella does not offer job placement assistance. Data for job placement were gathered from a survey distributed to alumni who graduated from Capella's CACREP-accredited programs in 2020. Fewer than 10 PhD Counselor Education and Supervision alumni responded, resulting in a statistically insignificant response rate.
