Quality and Professional Relevance

  • Capella was the first university recognized by Quality Matters™ at the program level for our commitment to course quality assurance in support of our public safety programs.
  • Faculty have extensive real-world experience in organizations such as the FBI, FEMA, IAEM, the Secret Service, and the U.S. Armed Forces.
  • The MS in Emergency Management curriculum was designed around the NFPA 1600 Standard on Continuity, Emergency, and risis Management.
  • Capella University has been designated by the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance/Cybersecurity (CAE IA/CD) for academic years 2014-2021.

  2. Apply leadership models to contemporary emergency management issues.
  3. Effectively lead and manage integrated emergency management organizations and agencies across all sectors.

  5. Apply valid, reliable, and ethical research to decision-making in the field of emergency management.
  6. Apply professional and social ethics to make sound, ethical decisions.
  7. Communicate in a manner that is scholarly, professional, and consistent with the expectations for members of the emergency management profession.
