Engage in collaborative group experiences to develop and strengthen communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and decision-making skills needed in today’s health care industry. This program is designed to help you influence health care professionals and organizational processes, lead performance management, ensure the implementation of initiatives, and optimize the effectiveness of health care organizations. It is offered in both a bachelor's-only degree pathway and an accelerated master's pathway (AMP). Successful graduates of this program may pursue roles as health care professionals.

  • The Bachelor of Science in Health Care Administration program is designed around the Association of University Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA) content areas and the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) Competency Assessment Tool 2015.
  • This program features a collaborative, problem-based learning model that incorporates industry best practices and the knowledge and skill sets expected by leading health care organizations.
  • The Collegiate Learning Assessment (CLA+) report shows that Capella seniors score significantly higher in critical thinking and written communication compared to seniors from non-proprietary and other proprietary institutions. The full CLA+ report is available.

Expected Program Outcomes

  1. Apply organizational skills and cultural competence to effectively develop and lead high-performance teams to meet diverse stakeholder and organizational goals in a variety of health care environments.
  2. Execute decisions in compliance with personal and professional values and legal, regulatory and ethical considerations inherent in managing healthcare systems and organizations.
  3. Analyze records and reports for action based upon established benchmarks and organizational goals and performance.
  4. Develop approaches to operational and strategic issues in managing health care organizations through the use of information technology, leadership skills, risk management, quality improvement concepts, and the application of healthcare ethics.
  5. Apply continuous improvement and quality management processes to improve outcomes.
  6. Create reports and records to attain measurable results in quality improvement, patient safety, budgeting, supply chain management, and risk management.
  7. Interpret the organizational elements, structure, performance, financing, terminology, and delivery modalities for the US health care system.
