Our mission is to provide equal access to learners with disabilities while maintaining the integrity of the University's academic standards. We are also dedicated to providing accommodations and services to qualified learners with disabilities so they may achieve their full educational potential.

Follow these steps to request accommodations for courses, residencies or other university activities:
An individual with a disability is defined as a person who has a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits a major life activity, has a record of such an impairment or is regarded as having such an impairment.
It is recommended to have professional documentation of your disability prior to discussing your accommodation needs. However, if you do not have documentation readily available, please do not hesitate to contact Disability Services, as we can begin the accommodation process without it.
Documentation can take a variety of forms, including IEP/504 plans, letters from doctors/psychologists, accommodation letters from previous schools, hospital reports, etc.
Capella University respects your independence, rights and dignity. Therefore, identifying yourself and requesting accommodations are completely voluntary. In accordance with the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Capella University handles all disability-related information confidentially, with the potential for disclosure only on a need-to-know basis.
Begin by completing and submitting the Accommodations for Learners with Disabilities request form or contact Disability Services to discuss your needs. We will follow up with you on any additional documentation or requirements.
Capella is a military-friendly university. In support of our military, we offer many benefits and assistance to active-duty service members, veterans, spouses and dependents.
